RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Architecture
-Develop a strategic architecture plan ensuring data features are prioritized
appropriately, estimates are reliable, benefits can be realized, and design
activities are proactively monitored and tracked to meet planned time frames
and the overall architecture plan.
-Drive short and long term architecture strategy and roadmaps for the overall IT
project portfolio for key segments and solution domains (short term insurance,
life insurance and insurance related products.
-Ensure complete solutions design, analysis and facilitate implementation
roadmaps in conjunction with relevant internal stakeholders in order to ensure
seamless delivery.
-Ensure efficient documentation and governance of architecture landscape.
-Continuously conduct a risk / impact analysis on current or proposed
technologies and capabilities to mitigate risk and ensure stability and continuity.
Infrastructure and Network Design and Architecture
-Design and select business-critical storage, data center, and client/server
environments to design solutions in line with industry best practice.
-Ensure effective handover and understanding of designs and frameworks to
project delivery and production support operations on an on-going basis.
-Communicate and validate program architecture with infrastructure team,
software development team, project management team, and IT management
team to ensure effective participation in the project management lifecycle. Own
and drive the process of impact assessments for all and any change requests
and or new projects.
-Support the operational teams with the planning of new Infrastructure initiatives
regularly which will include IT Infrastructure architectural planning, design and
rollout. Proactively work alongside the Monitoring team and identify whether
the deployed Infrastructure operates and meets with the original design
parameters once implemented.
Enterprise Infrastructure Modernization
-Lead definition of architectural standards for all technology services and
components (applications, data, integration, technology, security, business).
-Present business and IT leaders with signature-ready recommendations for
adjusting policies and projects to achieve target business outcomes that
capitalize on relevant digital disruptions.
-Proactively research and identify relevant technology and system design
patterns to optimally address enterprise requirements and ensure continuous
improvement. Participate in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology
direction and enabling business and IT strategy.
-Provide support to the Enterprise Project Office by identifying infrastructure or
process related improvements to ensure that new solutions are proposed and is
effectively implemented.
-Mitigate Infrastructure risks (single points of failure, capacity constraints,
security etc) and maintain the improvement list within the businesses Infrastructure.
Data Architecture
-Design, implement, and evolve robust and effectively aligned architecture
solutions that operate in the business ecosystem.
Horizon Scanning
-As subject matter expert on the team/function and beyond, maintain
understanding of current technology, database management, programming
practices, and future trends through ongoing education, conference attendance
and industry press.
-Provide specialised support and guidance to relevant internal stakeholders on
system(s) and / or processes during change design and planning and acts as a
subject matter experts that support the operational team.
Stakeholder Engagement
-Identify and manage stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concerns and
reacting to these by leading and coordinating the development of stakeholder
engagement plans to support the communication of business information and
decisions.
-Establish successful working relationships with all relevant internal and external
stakeholders.
-Collaborate closely with IT Senior management.
-Work closely with the head of IT Security to ensure alignment of Infrastructure,
applications, capabilities and IT Security
-Work alongside the GIT Project Management team to assist with the build and
the deployment of Infrastructure according to the design on an on-going basis.
-Work alongside the GIT Software development team so as to proactively identify
hardware and network requirements for the Business initiatives on an on-going
basis.
-Work closely with the entire GIT community on the middleware platforms.

-Support collection of business requirements using a variety of methods such as
interviews, document analysis, and workflow analysis to express requirements
clearly and succinctly.
-Proactively work alongside Internal and / or Business stakeholders in order
to identify technology solutions and capabilities which meet and improve
operational and business requirements.
Operational Compliance
-Monitor and review performance and behaviors within area of responsibility to
identify and resolve non-compliance with the organization's policies and relevant
regulatory codes and codes of conduct in the middleware platform.
Personal Capability Building
-Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging technology, external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development,
attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
Leadership and Direction
-Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function's
strategy and action plan and the broader organization's mission and vision;
motivate people to achieve local business goals.

-Develop and propose own performance objectives; take appropriate actions to
ensure achievement of agreed objectives, using the organization's performance

team performance; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or

Requirements
EDUCATION
General Education
Grade 12/ SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential); Recognized degree /
diploma / certification in Information Technology (Essential); Certification in a IT
industry standard framework such as TOGAF, ITIL (Advantageous); Project
management certification - PMBOK / Prince2 (Advantageous)
EXPERIENCE
General Experience
10 or more years experience in a production IT environment managingenterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting service and network areas (Essential); 5 or more years exposure to application development principles and support (Essential); 2 or more years exposure to IT security disciplines(Essential); 2 or more years exposure to ITIL disciplines (Advantageous) If the above mentioned experience was within the Financial Services Industry(Advantageous)
Managerial Experience 5 or more years management experience (Essential)
